Selamat Designs was founded in 1988 to make use of vast quantities of wood off-cuts left over after production of large pieces of furniture in Indonesia.  The cut-offs were utilized to make stylish office and home accessories that launched Selamat Designs into national prominence and established them as one of the first companies in the industry committed to green and sustainable principles.  Over the years, as customers began demanding larger pieces along with a broader selection of product, Selamat Designs introduced dining room chairs, wood barstools, beds and accessories.

Selamat Designs now offers expanded lines of occasional furniture and accessories made with the finest materials and the highest production values and design quality for the price.  Our original designs are executed by artisan wood workers, weavers, stone cutters and other craftsman and women, some of whose families have been playing their trade for generations.  The results are unique and enduring products of far greater value than mass produced, off the shelf imports.  Each piece has a story to tell about origins and resources, about meticulous hand work, and about sustaining communities.
